If you make these waffles, don’t forget to tell me how was it down below in the comments. I’m always very excited to know how the recipes turned out : )
Let’s bake!
WAFFLES WITH CHOCOLATE, ORANGE AND CRÈME FRAÎCHE
makes 5 big waffles
· Ingredients ·
Waffles:
200 g flour
100 ml warm whole milk, 26ºC
1 beaten large egg
5 g dry yeast or 15 g fresh yeast
70 g room temperature unsalted butter, 20ºC
50 g flour
50 g sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
spray butter or melted butter for the waffle maker
Toppings:
Chocolate and hazelnut spread
Sliced orange
Crème fraîche
· Step by step ·
Mix the warm milk with the yeast.
In a big bowl knead the 200 g flour along with the milk and the beaten egg.
Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and leave it in a warm place to rise for 1h, or until it doubles the size.
Now add the room temperature butter, 50 g flour, sugar, salt, vanilla and knead again.
Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and leave it to rest again for just 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 5 equal parts and extend them, on some baking paper with your waffle maker shape, to guide you.
Preheat your waffle maker and spray some butter, or melted butter with the help of a kitchen brush, so the waffles don’t stick.
Once your waffle maker is hot place the dough right in the center and close it well.
Leave them for about 2 or 3 minutes, it’ll depend on your waffle maker power.
Serve them warm with the toppings you desire.
· Tips ·
If you don’t have a waffle maker they can also be made on a non-stick pan with a bit of melted butter removing out the excess with a paper kitchen towel. You’ll have to keep in mind the visual result will be different.
If you don’t have a kitchen thermometer to measure the milk’s temperature do this: take the milk from the fridge and heat it inside the microwaves for 20 seconds at maximum power. The result should be a temperature between 25ºC and 30ºC, it must never exceed 35ºC because then your dough will not rise as we want.
I indicate the butter temperature for you to have an idea of how it should be a room temperature butter, neither cold nor almost melted. It has to be very soft to the touch and there shouldn’t be any melted butter.
Enjoy!
